Berry Picking in the Berkshires

One of the many, many things that I love about summer is berry picking. This past June I enjoyed strawberry picking in the Berkshires but the strawberry season has since passed.            3/4 cup white sugar
           1/4 cup shortening
           1 egg
           1/2 cup milk
