Winter Driving Readiness

All of us here in Berkshire County were blasted by the recent snowstorms, and this serves as a reminder that winter driving conditions are often hazardous. So what better time than this to prepare for winter driving? Here are some tips so you're ready for Berkshire winters:

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Before you actually start driving, you want to make sure you've made the preparations you need to withstand the cold, snow, and ice.  Firt off, before the next snowstorm - if you haven't already - have Haddad Subaru winterize your vehicle. Here's what we'll do:

      - Make sure your battery is fully charged and running properly to avoid breakdowns.
-Check the cooling system and make sure the antifreeze is a 50-50 mix between antifreeze and water, as this has a  lower freezing point.
-Clean any blockages in the wiper fluid nozzle, and replace wiper blades if needed.
-Check the tread depth and condition of your tires and get any tires changes done.
-Check your brake and exhaust systems to make sure they function properly and have no leaks.

If any new vehicle parts are needed, Haddad Parts and Services will take care of you - and for more information on tires, see Haddad Subaru's Tire Department.  You may also want to refresh your knowledge on How to Jump Start Your Car in the case of a breakdown.
When you start your car:  clear your windows of any snow, ice, dust, or other obstructions, and clean any ice and snow off your wiper blades. Also remove accumulated snow from your vehicle, including the roof and hood, so the snow will not blow off and create a hazard.
Of course, the best way to stay safe in winter is to not drive. However, sometimes braving the weather is unavoidable, and although some people say there's a Subaru perfect for any kind of weather...
