What's New for 2023?

The Subaru Ascent continues its inaugural generation with a midcycle refresh in 2023, including a bolder front fascia with a new grille and lighting clusters. Inside the cabin, a newly standard 11.6-inch touchscreen replaces the previous 6.5-inch and 8.0-inch displays and includes wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. New options also appear in the Ascent lineup, including a 360-degree camera system and a Cabin Connect driver PA/intercom feature.

Performance

The Ascent is Subaru's largest model, but it has no issues getting quickly up to speed for confident merging and passing. Under the hood, a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine produces 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, while Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive and an X-MODE traction management system provide surefooted handling for all New England Seasons. For the 2023 model year, Ascent's Onyx Edition, Limited, and Touring trims include a special dual-function X-MODE system with extra settings for Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud.

Accommodations and Utility

The Subaru Ascent offers a roomy and refined interior, with modern styling, quality materials, and cozy seats that deliver comfort to last the whole journey. The Ascent's standard configuration includes 8-passenger accommodations with reclining rear seats and a second-row bench.  But if your Lenox family doesn't need the extra seatbelt, you can open the space even more with second-row captain's chairs. When carrying a full crew, the Ascent retains 18 cubic feet for storage behind the third row, expandable to 47.5 cubic feet by folding the 60/40-split third row. When larger North Adams adventures require maximum cargo capacity, you can fold all rear seats to expand the storage area to 75.6 cubic feet.
