How to Change a Flat Tire
1) Park your car on a level surface, away from traffic, and set your parking brake.
2) Remove the spare tire and combination jack/wrench. You will also need a flat tip screwdriver.
3) Remove the hubcap cover with the flat tip screwdriver.
4) Loosen the lug nuts with the wrench (turn to the left or counterclockwise) but do not completely remove them before you jack up the car.
5) After all the lugnuts are loosened, place the jack under the car so that it touches either the frame or the big bar that supports the front wheel suspension (your owner's manual may have a more specific place recommended for your car).
6) Jack the car up so that it's a little higher off the ground than is necessary to remove the flat tire - this will leave room to put the new, full tire on.
7) Remove the lugnuts and place them carefully aside. Grasp the flat tire with both hands and pull it toward you. Once it's off your vehicle, roll it out of the way.
8) Lift the spare tire onto the lug bolts, replace the lug nuts and tighten by hand (turn them to the right or counterclockwise)- wait until the car is on the ground before you really tighten the lug nuts with the wrench.
9) Lower the car back down and remove the jack. Use the lug wrench to tighten the lug nuts as much as possible.
10) Replace the hubcap (cover with a cloth - don't hit it with the wrench or you might dent it), put the jack and flat in your car. Get the flat repaired or replaced as soon as possible.
