Subaru has been teasing a 7 passenger vehicle for quite some time now and finally, the wait is over!
The L.A. Auto Show is in full swing and Subaru decided to unveil the highly anticipated Subaru Viziv-7, it's first 7-passenger SUV since the Subaru Tribeca was discontinued back in 2012. Here is what we know so far...
Go big or go home!
The Viziv-7 be Subaru's largest model to date and, if the production model has the same measurements as the concept, it will be in the same weight class as Toyota Highlander, Ford Explorer, and Chevy Tahoe. The vehicle will be made exclusively for the American market, leading many to believe that it will be manufactured in Subaru's plant in Indiana. Since it is just a concept at the moment, there is no information in regards to powertrain, or if there will be a Hybrid option available, but we will keep you up to date as more information is released. One thing we do know- it will certainly have the unparalleled AWD capability and safety features Subarus are known for.
Safe and Stylish
"The Viziv-7 SUV Concept expresses the company’s core brand values, safety, dependability, capability for outdoor activities and a forward looking attitude..." said Takeshi Tachimori, corporate executive vice president, Fuji Heavy Industries. As if anyone expected anything less from Subaru. But when people talk about anything being "safe", there seems to be an assumption that it will be "plain". Not this vehicle! As you can see in the photo, Subaru focused more on styling with this one than many of its other models: the front end alone is evidence of that. As the photo above is a concept model, there will probably be some changes to the styling, but we're hoping not too many.
ETA?
So when can you get one? Subaru is projecting that the Viziv-7 (which will receive a more "adventurous" name to align with it's sibling models) will be hitting the market in early 2018 but a production version concept is set to be unveiled next year.
We're wicked excited for this addition to the Subaru family and will be monitoring any news relating to it very closely, so keep checking back for updates.
