Are mosquitoes bugging you this summer?
Tired of swatting and spraying in an
effort to get rid of them? We've recently heard of two new ways to combat those annoying pests and thought you might want to know about them:
Lo Tech
What would your guess be for the best way to defend yourself against mosquitoes? Bug Zappers? DEET? Citronella Candles? Actually, none of them according to reporter William J. Broad in a recent NY Times article. a Aow-tech technique might be your best defense against mosquitoes - a fan.
Turns out, mosquitoes are poor flyers and the wind from a fan seems to be enough to deter it. Additionally, the fan's breeze blows our exhaled carbon dioxide (what female mosquitoes use to find us) away from us. So next time you're out on the deck, be sure to set out fans along with the deck chairs for a mosquito-free experience!
