Have you been to the Downtown Pittsfield Farmer's market yet? I went for the first time this past Saturday and was wondering what took me so long! What a great place to get:

Flowers

Dog Treats
The Pittsfield Farmer's Market is open every Saturday through October from 9am to 1pm. Over twenty farmers and artisans sell the freshest of fruit, vegetables, meats, eggs and baked goods. All are locally sourced (their produce and products come from within a hundred miles of Berkshire County). The Pittsfield Farmer's Market website says "We are a producer-only market*, so you are buying directly from the person who grew, raised, or created it!". I have to say, everyone I met was friendly, informative and helpful.
So what did I walk away with? A bag of maple syrup flavored mini pecan pies for my husband ($15 for 6), funky bracelets (free from Blue Q) for my daughter, sunflowers in a mason jar ($10) and heirloom tomatoes ($5 for a quart size box piled as high as I dared) that I used in a crustless quiche for Sunday brunch.
Will I be back? You bet! There's so much more there that I want to try...

The Pittsfield Farmer's Market is located in the parking lot on South Street, across from the First Street Commons. There's plenty of free parking right there in the lot. The Farmer's Market is open each Saturday from 9am to 1pm, rain or shine, thru October.
