Curious about Subaru's new concept sports coupe the BRZ?  This is what we know so far:

Billed as the "world's smallest 4 seat rear-wheel drive coupe", the Subaru BRZ is expected to hit our dealership's inventory in late spring 2012*.  Developed as a joint project between Subaru and Toyota Motor Corporation (though the BRZ is primarily Subaru engineered), the BRZ is a brand new car from scratch - a rarity nowadays (Toyota's version is  a Scion FR-S).

'BRZ' stands for 'Boxer/Rear-wheel Drive/Zenith'.  According to Autoevolution.com, it is "a back to basics coupe for the serious enthusiast"-  with an expected base price of around $24k.  The mileage is estimated at approximately 30mpg highway, and it's powered by a direct-injection 4-cylinder boxer engine delivering around 200-hp.

The BRZ "handles great", according to Ollie Marriage of TopGear.com, and it "steers like it has no weight to deal with".  He continues by saying the  "front and rear working in perfect harmony" and  "if you enjoy driving, if you relish the thought if a rear-drive coupe, this is the car for you" (read the Top Gear Test Drive Report here).  If you want to see a test drive in action, watch the Motortrend video.

All in all, the BRZ will be an affordable sports car that comes with a Subaru Boxer engine, the lowest possible center of gravity (Subaru believes it has a lower center of gravity than a Ferrari 458!), astonishing handling and a choice of automatic or 6 speed manual.  It will join Subaru's model lineup of Forester, Impreza, Impreza WRX, Legacy, Outback and Tribeca by June 2012.
